More timetable changes??

Any truth in the story I heard from an English contact that there will be another new Heuston timetable from December 11 with services accelerated and additional Westport and Waterford trains?

If indeed true why has it not been announced by IE and have they got enough rolling stock to cover it?

Line works ex Heuston only finish this weekend so I guess it could be possible. JP only displaying services until 21 Jan which IMO sounds more realistic for introducing higher speeds however IE only give a few days notice before a timetable so anything is possible!

Had been talk of some extra Waterford services over the summer but it's gone quiet.

Your English friend is applying the U.K. and European timetable change date to Irish Rail, which is not followed here.

There has to be a full consultation process before any significant timetable changes, which has been undertaken and the timetables changed.

Do you seriously think they would print up working timetables and route flyers for less than a month?

Also, Cork line works have at least another year to go, if not two.

So, no is the simple answer.

Do they even do printed timetables anymore, don't think they have been available to the public for months. As for the second part it's IE so anything is possible.

Between Hazel and Portlaoise? They can't be that long, I know other bits are also happening but I can't see them waiting until works.

Yes there are new printed route flyers.

There isn't another timetable change happening on the Heuston side in 13 days time - if there is I will eat my hat.

My understanding is that there is a strong possibility of another two years of works before we finally get the running time improvements.

we've heard nothing.

Berney is 100% correct. Also, where are they going to magic up these trains from?

I suppose in some dewy eyed future when the PPT is a commuter railcar there will be spare 22K availability but not till then. Besides the 22k's are about to get into a cycle of heavy mainatance in the coming years but we assume that'll be run without any massive problems.

Not happening until the driver/management pay and conditions negotiations are concluded.

That could take a while!
