exit validation when origin stations closed

Now exit validation is up and running in Tara and Connolly, What's the story with buying tickets at the destination when the origin station is closed.
Last night, at 18:44 Rush and Lusk station was closed. If you were to board a train to Tara, I presume you'ld have to buy a ticket of the guys there.

Can you then get *Any* commuter ticket of those guys? weekly or monthly and can you pay them by plastic? the ticket machines are all outside the barrier but these take plastic. IE's website explicitly states they don't accept credit card in Connolly but does not state this for Tara.

If you cannot buy any class of ticket off the guys then this seems an excessive penalty for passengers as it's IE's fault for not staffing their stations to advertised levels.

This also makes a mockery of the "you must have a ticket to travel"

Also Connolly booking office closes at 22:20 when there's 4 services south and and 8 north/west after this time each weekday.

Maybe they should get John Delaney in to shake things up there....

Grrr ... I have written long rants about Irish Rail's pathetic excuse for a ticketing policy in the past. Awful >_<
