Six Nations Rugby International - Ireland V Italy - Train travel from Cork, Limerick and Kerry.

Iarnrod Eireann would like to advise customers intending to travel from Cork, Limerick and Kerry to Dublin this Saturday morning to book their tickets in advance as there will be limited availability on peak morning services into Dublin.

Customers travelling to Dublin and not going to the match are asked to travel on later morning trains.

Iarnrod Eireann would like to thank customers for their co-operation.

What do you make of the highlighted line? Are IE right in asking passengers not going to six nations game to travel on later trains?

Mark Hennessy 28-01-2008 16:15

That is Irish Rail's idea of planning I believe.

"But we told you not to come along until later"

ThomasJ 28-01-2008 16:28

Or are they giving advance warning that there will be no extra specials being announced? so to minimise the blow... "non essential travel" whatever that means in their books.

From Irish Rail website

Quote:

Iarnród Éireann wishes to advise customers that after the Six Nations Rugby International on Saturday 2nd of February, the following service alterations will apply:

The 16.00hrs Connolly - Sligo service will not serve Drumcondra .

Extra services from Drumcondra to Maynooth will operate at 15.45hrs and 16.20hrs
No extra services inbound though? Saturday is not a great service on the Maynooth line?

MOH 30-01-2008 13:30

Right, so if you're going to Dublin for the day please come up later to avoid overloading the early morning trains ... so then you'll be going home later ... with all the rugby crowd after the match.

That's a really well thought out plan.

For future reference there is now a formal list of extra trains to run on the Maynooth line for events at Croke Park but it applies on Sundays ONLY

The return trains IE list for Saturday run Mon-Fri anyway

ThomasJ 05-02-2008 17:39

Any idea Mark is there set times for those additional trains? It would be handy to know for future purposes.

Mark Gleeson 05-02-2008 17:45

Will dig out

ThomasJ 14-02-2008 17:09

Mark, did you manage to pull out information?

Mark Gleeson 14-02-2008 17:11

Given the work to rule situation no point in posting since operation can't be confirmed

ThomasJ 14-02-2008 17:13

I suppose so, thanks Mark.
