InterCity services

InterCity

InterCity services run from:

Dublin’s Heuston to/From Ballina, Westport, Galway, Limerick, Ennis, Tralee, Cork, and Waterford. Dublin Connolly to/from Belfast, Sligo, Wexford and Rosslare Europort. Services also run between Rosslare Europort and Limerick; Cork and Tralee; and Cork and Limerick. The Luas Red Line/ Dublin Bus No. 90 (finishes at 10:00) services link the two stations door to door.

All classes where available are bookable on www.irishrail.ie except:
Dublin - Wexford/Rosslare
Rosslare – Europort
Tralee – Cork (limited services available to book online)

I'll take a stab at it:
> Cork, and Waterford
not supposed to have a comma delimiting the last item before an and. Grammatic FAIL.

> Connolly to/from ... Rosslare Europort
Not anymore. I.E. tore up a railway that went right into the boat terminal, and replaced it with Rosslare "Harbour" a good (outdoor) 10 min walk away. Forward thinking FTW!

> Services also run between Rosslare Europort and Limerick
They don't

> Cork and Limerick
Nope. Try again.

> Rosslare – Europort
No such service

That is actually a matter of style and personal preference. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_comma.

"Dublin's Heuston"?

Is Limerick-Galway supposed to be under "intercity"?

Colm Moore 24-04-2010 00:37

Few direct services run between Heuston and either Ballina or Ennis. Tralee does one better with a single service in each direction every day

The Connolly to Wexford is essentially the same as the Connolly to Rosslare Europort.

No direct services run between Rosslare Europort and Limerick nor Cork and Limerick.

"Dublin - Wexford/Rosslare
Rosslare – Europort" is an odd way to say things

It seems that the vast majority of Tralee-Cork services are bookable. No mention is made of Limerick-Galway or Limerick-Ballybrophy not being bookable. The system will give you a web price from Connolly to Gorey, but will then tell you it isn't bookable on the internet.

Also, under "Our Services", they have:

Quote:

Our Services

InterCity
Enterprise
IÉ Freight
* Bulk Freight
* Navigator
Rosslare Europort
So, neither DART nor Commuter.
