Usual PR tripe
Folks in Clondalkin already had a station, admittedly a horrible one. It already is served by 25 trains a day No mention of real customer service facts, such as the station being staffed, having full accessibility, electronic information displays and so on |

Is the name Clondalkin Fonthill a temp name? Why call it that? Its been on the T21 map as Clondalkin since the start.
RPA call it Clondalkin because they have a planned MW stop called Fonthill. Why do their idiots not just talk FFS. |
Interesting change of PR speak as well

Fonthill would be a bad name as Fonthill House is north of the N4 at Liffey Valley and Fonthill Road is 5km long from the N4 to N7 at Newlands Cross. The Clondalkin bit retains the Clondalkin heritage while Fonthill specifies it isn't the old Clondalkin, while telling you what road its on. Stops on the KRP are quite widely spaced, so there is the potential for in between stations, we might have Clondalkin Cloverhill in 20 years time. |

Annoucement from the driver on the 6:30am service from Portlaoise this morning stating it will be stopping at Clondalkin\Fonthill from now on. It was always in the automatic annoucement that train served the station.

Platform length restriction at the old Clondalkin, limited it to a 4 coach commuter or 3 car intercity. It can now take 8/6
|
Well as it stands there is a 20:35hrs service that stops at Cherry Orchard/Parkwest and Clondalkin and the next service is at 23:00hrs.
Given that there is a 21:45hrs service ex Heuston that didn't stop there because of the train type and length and platform length and given that the platform issue at Cherry Orchard/Parkwest and Clondalkin has been sorted whats stopping the 21:45hrs ex Heuston from stopping at those stations now? |
The signs on the platforms say "Clondalkin / Fonthill".

So overall, a nice clean bright appearance, it clear how to get to where you want to be, some minor issues to be sorted out, I'm not enthusiastic about the stairs.
8/10. |
Cheers for the pics. I must get down to Clongriffin and do the same.

back to my map obsession
i was trying to locate this and got confused - i found reference to clondalkin station being in two different places. given that there are a few stations on the move, would it be an idea to rustle up a google map showing where thigns are now so here it is http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=53.341226,-6.432667&spn=0.117864,0.30899&z=12&msid=1112669092 48308350592.00045c82b062cf62dd38f can anyone who know reply with corrections? maybe we can add a page on the website "where's my station?" |
