Break-of-journey rules for reserved tickets

Basically, I presume that intercity tickets booked online (or any other kind of bookings that include reservations on particular services) don't allow a break of journey?

Or could you do so and pay the supplement fare that applies when you travel on another service on the same day as the one you've reserved on??

Speaking of that supplement fare actually, is there any way of working out what it is??

You must travel on the trains as reserved

No break of journey is allowed, supplement may apply if you travel on a train different to the one you booked.

No idea what it is, and indeed most of the staff have no clue either. The logic would be the difference between the online fare and the normal cash fare, which could be quite significant
