I know this is a rail users group but it shocked me! I flew Dublin to cork for €6 return! Now I only had a laptop/overnight bag and it was just an overnight but it was as handy as travelling by train and in the end just as handy!! Not sure if it's always that cheap or hassle free but I found it a great experience!

A pretty good price!

How long does the flight last?

It's about half an hour. Long enough for a snack and drink service, gift sales, lottery sales, and bus ticket sales.

I checked for flight DUB-CRK on Friday evening and CRK-DUB on Monday - 207 euro before the extras

The cheap prices are largely because they can't sell seats though.

When they started the route, they were on 5 a day, but come the summer, they'll be down to three a day (two on Sunday & Wednesday and one on Saturday).

Now, many would argue that they only started the route to hurt Aer Arann and now that they've done it they're returning to a more profitable schedule.

But, there are reasons that they are only selling the number of tickets that they are - no faster than the train or car, less flexible than the train or car, lower frequency than the train.

And more expensive unless you book far in advance, travel on Monday afternoon, Tuesday, or Wednesday, jump through all their hoops, and have a prepaid MasterCard.

Travel time city centre to city centre is more or less equivalent. We had a competition at work a while back involving a race from St. Stephen's Green to the Grand Parade where one team could only travel by car, another by bus and train, and the third by bus and plane. The train team won handily.

I haven't managed to get the same fare since :( well going next weekend for 12 return... (yep using prepaid mastercard) Well thats all presuming no ash in the air :( though I am waiting for Irish rail to use that excuse too! :rolleyes:
