Which is crooked logic. This is a
tram we are talking about, not an airline where you book your tickets months ahead of time. It should serve regular commuters alright but also those spontaneously deciding to hop on. A discount for those with smart cards and weekly/monthly tickets makes sense, but for single ride or day return tickets, buying at the TVM right before boarding is the most sensible use case. It should be accounted for by having enough machines in place, not by discouraging it via financial penalties.
