Default 16:50 Connolly - Belfast Central

16:50 from Connolly left exactly on time but ended up crawling the whole way from Skerries to Drogheda due to a commuter train ahead. This certainly isn't the first time this has happened. Does anyone know whether this is down to bad timetabling/signalling decisions? I know an 8 car commuter will carry more people, but there's a significant cost incentive for keeping the people happy on the packed and overpriced cross-border trains.

Ended up missing my connection in Portadown over the head of it. Since it only arrived in Portadown 6 mins after the scheduled departure of the local train to Belfast, I presume there were further knock-on problems for the Enterprise as it had to sit behind an all stops service from Lisburn into GVS.
