The fatality actually happened at Newcastle rather than at Kilcoole with the train, the 0940 ex Connolly, being held at the site for some time.

The line re-opened in time for the passage of the 1255 ex Rosslare and the 1336 ex Connolly. Normally, these services cross at Wicklow but today crossed at Greystones due to the late running of the latter. Unusually, both comprised 2900 railcars.
