Monday, 13 October 2008 17:24

A new railway station on the Kildare commuter line was officially opened by the by Minister for Transport, Noel Dempsey, in Clondalkin in west Dublin this morning.

The Clondalkin Fonthill railway station replaces the previous Clondalkin station, which closed last night.

The new station offers extra facilities, particularly improved accessibility for wheelchairs and blind and deaf customers.

It also has a 200 space park-and-ride facility for cars.

It is part of the €350m Kildare Route Project.

On completion of the project in 2010, there will be increased services for all stations along the route.
