brompton - if you can't work a 8.30-4.30 or a 9-5 job I don't think it can be called "commuter".

I won't rejoice if Nenagh is cut completely. There were better ways it could have been operated, particularly if the Limerick commuter service was the paramount consideration rather than an afterthought to Dublin facing services and had been timetabled to not only give commuters a workday but also include Roscrea in its catchment (from which no competing bus service operates unlike the Nenagh market which is served head to head by JJK and BE)

However you slice it though, a given service should have more passengers than signalmen. It could not go on as it was.
