Default 'Turnback' Facility at Adamstown Railway Station

Taken from www.adamstown.ie....

As a result of ongoing discussion between South Dublin County Council and Iarnród Eireann, it is now proposed to develop a 'turnback' rail facility at Adamstown railway station.

The proposed 'turnback' facility will provide an extra rail line at Adamstown Station that can allow train services to commence and terminate at the station during peak hours. The 'turnback' is to be included within the Railway Order Application as part of the Iarnród Eireann - Kildare Route Project, which involves doubling of the existing railway line beyond Adamstown.

It is likely that a planning application for Adamstown Railway Station will be submitted before Christmas 2004 and that the Station will be operational by early 2006. The doubling of the existing track to Adamstown and building of the turnback facility is expected by 2009 as part of the Railway Order delivery.
