The longer a line has been closed and the less of it is in CURRENT State ownership the less realistic a reconstruction is, particularly when lines that AREN'T closed are having difficulty obtaining resources necessary to keep them competitive vs the roads.

If we can throw reason out the window I propose that the Thurles-Clonmel line is not sufficient fairness since it doesn't cross a county bound, and thus the Derrydonnell-Loughrea-Cloughjordan-Thurles-Nenagh-Dungarvan line should begin construction immediately. 199km so with the bare minimum of acceptable equipment in the interests of balanced regional development (regauged Class 222s) the journey might take as long as an hour and a quarter, if a stop in Portumna is absolutely required.
