Default Major Irish Rail IT/Web failure

Entire Irish Rail website and related services is down and remains down

Impacts
1. No website
2. No ticket collection
3. No card payments at TVM's
4. No realtime apps
5. No Leap top ups at TVM's
6. May impact product/credit collection at tag on/off for LEAP tomorrow

Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann are also down, side effect of this appears to be loss of real time info online and at bus stops. CIE group website is working though.

Work around
1. journeyplanner.irishrail.ie is working, no booking possible (this is actually hosted in Germany by Hafas)

2. For all cash fares http://www.railusers.ie/passenger_in..._calc_2014.php

3. If travelling on a online booking, print out the email confirmation and use as ticket

Seems to be back working OK now.

I needs to book a ticket but I shall hold off a few days just in case.

For what I have learned this appears to have been a complete IT failure, looks like a power failure took everything out, web/email/vpn etc

If it's true, it's incredibly sloppy. If they're not going to give it to a professional to host, they need to spend some money running it properly.

I doubt we will get a straight answer

It raises serious questions as to how one failure could take out every system
