Default Collecting tickets booked online

I'm thinking of booking a ticket online on behalf of my son. From what I've read on the Irish Rail website he should be able to collect the ticket from a TVM with just the booking reference number. Before I make the booking I just want to double-check that he won't also need the credit card (for verification purposes) which I plan to use to pay for the ticket (as I won't be with him when he's travelling). The option to collect the ticket at the booking office doesn't seem to be of any use in his case, as he doesn't have a passport or driving licence.

You can collect with just the reference number

Tickets can be collected from any ticket machine, at any station regardless of the one you select at the time of booking
