Default Revenue Protection Unit

The Revenue protection unit were camped out in Carlow station last night, and again for the 07:24 this morning.

Checking tickets and counting passenger numbers.

Not something I've seen before. (in carlow)

I saw a rake of clipboard-wielders at the DART stations on the southside yesterday.

They were out again last night and this morning. /me feels targeted

I know they can stop you boarding a train but do they rules allow them to prevent you from leaving the station?

If they ask you for a ticket and you don't/can't/won't show it/give it up, and won't give and prove your name and address, they are permitted to detain you until the Gardaí arrive. But that's the only circumstance.

Staff have no power of detention but have the power to haul you out if you don't play along
