Default Train driver listening to walkman whilst driving train

This morning and earlier in the week. Whilst waiting for the Docklands train, the train driver of the 7:46 Clonsilla to Connolly pulled up to the station listening to a walkman whilst driving the train.

Once everybody had boarded the train he pulled out of the station still listening to the walkman. I assume listening to a walkman whilst driving a train is not allowed as it poses a massive saftey risk.

Can anybody confirm that listening to a walkman whilst driviing a train is prohibited?

Whom would I e-mail in Irish Rail to complain about this?.

Well using a mobile phone except when contacting the signalman is against the rules. Given the various tones and buzzers which trigger in particular the cab signaling display the driver must be able to clearly hear them.

If Irish Rail don't seem to care, http://www.rsc.ie and they will send someone out. Anytime we have contacted them they have taken direct and prompt action to stop what Irish Rail was or had planned to do

one of the more funnier moments i experienced was the driver on a late night maynooth train moaning about his other half on the phone unaware the conversation was picked up over the intercom. Having said that the call was made while the train was parked at connolly!
