Default General Luggage Rules

I'm just wondering about the rules/procedures for large luggage.

Namely I'm planning to bring a boxed 40" tv with me from Belfast to Connolly on a mid afternoon service during the week and am curious as to whether I'd have to pay extra? Or make any prior arrangements? I assume it would have to be placed in the guard car?

Thanks for any help!

Me thinks you are pushing it with a 40 inch tv

General rule is 50kg, subject to space available, you being able to load/unload without delaying the train

If it goes in the luggage van then thats going to cost extra, but since you are dealing with NIR and not IE odds are things will be a lot easier and lets face it its probably not the first time someone has shifted a tv through Belfast Central

Ok well it only weighs about 25kg so I guess that won't be a problem. I'll be arriving in plenty of time so no danger about delays.

I'll have my ticket already from the To Belfast journey, so would I have to go to the tickcet office in Belfast to arrange putting it in the luggage van. I'm assuming they wouldn't let me bring an item roughly 120cmx75cmx10cm on board?

It certainly won't fit, doubt it will get in the door even, it should fit in to the luggage van (Dublin end)

Its NIR just ask and normally they are the most helpful bunch

Remember to allow for the size of the box!

Given that it is that slim, it should fit in the door, but I would wonder if it would fit on a luggage rack and you can't leave it in the aisle (if nothing else, it might be unloaded at Dundalk ).

How are you getting it to / around the train station?

It should fit in the door, but I don't know if it'll turn the corner.
