Heuston Station: new pay & display car park arrangements
15 April 2012

Customers are advised that from Monday 16th April, Heuston Station car park will change from a barrier operated car park to Pay and Display.

Rates for parking are:
- €1.50 per hour
- €8.00 per 24 hours

Customers can also pay using Parkbytext for €7.00 per 24 hours. The Parkbytext code for Heuston Station is 1278. The Parkbytext customer helpline is 0818 444999 and more information on how to use the service is available at www.parkbytext.ie

Customers paying cash should ensure that a valid pay ticket is clearly displayed in their car window for the full duration of parking. Pay car parking applies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

things must be getting tight if they bring in this effort for screwing money out of people.

up till now you paid on exit, and the prices were €7 per day, resonable in dublin city centre. the thing being that you can choose when you want to leave. now, paying the same amount, if you are late back to your car instead of stumping up the extra amount based on your time there you get a great big dirty clamping fine.

and its not as if heuston has capacity problems. in ten years parking there i have only ever seen it full once, and that was before it was expanded.

I'm not sure that clamping fees brings in more money than it costs and it loses a lot of good will.

Clamping works best to make sure that people actually pay for their parking, but if there is a barrier, that shouldn't really be a problem

You can phone up and extend your parking over the phone if you're delayed, although they don't advertise the option very much. And it's not especially convenient anyhow.
