Traveling on different trains vs those you booked
If you need to travel on a train different to that you booked on, read on
1) YOU MUST present the ticket to the booking office 2) They will endorse the ticket valid on the train you now want (subject to availability etc) 3) A fee may be payable 4) DO NOT seek to be waved through a gate with a story, get the ticket stamped at the booking office first 5) Traveling on an non endorsed ticket => 100 euro fine

Is there any way you can get the reservation changed before you ever arrive at the station. The email you get implies that the phone number is just for cancellations.

It must be done at the station of departure. The ability to change is dependent on the train you want not being sold out
