Default Trinity Biosciences entrance to Pearse station

Any update on what is holding up opening this? It's beyond a farce at this stage, from both platform and street level it looks fully ready to open.

Friends and I have come to the conclusion it's a staffing problem- IE can't find/afford anyone willing to man the barriers at street level, and/or they can't arrange for someone to open and close the gates on Pearse St.

While we're at it, there have been two TVMs in the new lobby at Pearse for months now that haven't been activated. I get the impression that IE is completely broke and any current expenditure required after some capital investment(building the entrance, buying the TVMs) is simply not available.

No actually much simpler, TCD own the entrance

There has to be some form of commercial agreement concerning its maintenance etc

Oh right, that makes sense. If it was anyone else I'd be confused about why this hadn't been sorted in advance of completing the damn entrance, but this is Trinity administration we're dealing with here. We'll be lucky if the gate opens by 2020.

For the younger members of the forum, this new entrance just replaces the original and more grand Pearse Street entrance closed in the 1980's and then sold off to TCD

TCD win on the double as Irish Rail had to enter into a commercial agreement to get the new entrance in place

Says a lot about the Government's public transport ambitions that Leo makes time to launch the re-opened side entrance to Pearse.

Although a long time in coming the final product looks well and appears to be water-tight !

Is there a booking office at the entrance?
