Docklands services suspended. M3 Parkway trains operating to/from Connolly by Corporate Communications

16.35hrs, Wednesday 16th November

Services to/from Docklands Station are currently suspended due to low rail adhesion, or wheel slip.

Trains to/from M3 Parkway are now operating to/from Connolly Station, with some delays.

Iarnród Éireann apologises for the inconvenience caused.

Suspect the fact that the train was "unfit for purpose" was the issue rather than low adhesion. Anybody care to guess how many traction units were operational on the stalled train ?

In addition to the usual hassles with a failure, the Docklands line retains catch points which makes wrong direction movements somewhat tricky. I understand the train was eventually recovered by a reversal along the outgoing line.

The train is certified for all gradients on the network with 50% of power available. That section is far from the steepest on the network

Later notices on the PIS said that services were cancelled due to a technical failure on a train rather than wheel slip.
