Default Extending annual ticket

If I have an annual ticket from, say, Dublin to Kildare. If I want to go from Dublin to Portloaise, do I just need to buy a Kildare-Portloaise ticket or do I need to get one from Dublin.

No just buy either the single/return Kildare-Portlaoise.
