This is just a joke at this stage. "Dublin Bus will accept rail tickets". Why don't we save everyone a lot of bother and just buy bus tickets.

Do Irish Rail ever have to accept Dublin Bus tickets?

Do Dublin Bus accept smart cards? How will the amount be docked from your account?

Dublin bus will accept all rail tickets including smartcards. Do not try to validate an Irish Rail ticket on the bus it just won't work.

During the snow incidents both Irish Rail and Luas accepted Dublin Bus weekly/monthly/annual tickets

I assume for trains terminating at Pearse, we can get the no.7 bus around the corner on Merrion Square? The text below, from the Irish Rail website, doesn't mention Pearse...

What about the usual post-match closure of GCD?

Won't apply. GCD is closed to prevent people going to GCD only to find northbound full and then create a massive crowd control nightmare

Will Annual cards issued in Dec for Jan 2012 use the new card or will we still have the 2-card trick (separate Irish Rail and DB cards?)

Quite possibly a single card. Operationally an annual ticket is much simpler than an e-purse, although the existing Irish Rail annual tickets can also work as an e-purse.
