Default train cancellations 19th of November

Yesterday morning the 8.40 am train and a few others were cancelled. The explanation was that there was a train malfunction at castle knock. There have been a few train cancellations over the last few weeks, not sure whats goin on with irish rail. The issue i have with the cancellation is that it was announced at 8.39, now if there was an issue at castleknock that means that the issue had occurred at least 20 minutes earlier, this would mean that the station was aware of the issue long before they announced it and hugely inconvenienced alot of people. Whjat the hell goes through the station attendants heads? Alot of people were late for work who could have found alternative transport 20 minutes earlier.

See above. No explanation really seemed forthcoming.
