Lostcarpark: The PA stuttering sounds like it's possibly playing off a hardrive which might have been subject to a bit of vibration just at it played. It's not unlike what happens a CD walkman if you go for a jog. Once the skip protection buffer is full, you get a skip.

It was only one word, but reminds me a lot of Max Headroom.

The skipping theory makes a lot of sense, though as far as I remember the train had come to a complete stop by that point, so while there would be some vibration from the engines, it ought to be a lot less than when the train is moving.

05:30 hours from Cork arrived half an hour late, sat on very last carriage and there was no automatic man this morning, or display working

And no reasons or apology for the delay on the train PA and just the standard apology in Heuston. It did make up a bit of time and hit Heuston about 8:40-ish.

So, the leaves are gone, could it have been the fog? The sun rising unexpectedly in the east blinding the driver, or a fundamental cock up on the part of IE?

Dosnt matter, IE know the solution. Simple get the trian to leave Cork at 5.00am with the same arrival time in Dublin, therefore you cannot claim its late.

They should hire me you know.

I thought I might comment here on a good story.

The 1659 from Maynooth - Gorey [19-12-06] had no automated announcements but the driver made very clear announcements at all of the stops and he was was calling us all customers not passengers. A small but nice detail.

Uncannily, that's what they're at with the new timetable - back to 5:15 departure. Ah padding - it makes everything so comfortable...IE should put the timetable on the Atkins.

And if they hired you, you would cross the Dark Side...

Apparently the 07:10 for Galway left Dublin about half an hour late. The passengers were told "engineering problems" but all the other trains around seemed to be moving.

I slept it in so was still in bed

No northbound platform display in Blackrock again Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. It's bad enough when the trains are late, it's worse when you're standing there with no idea how late they're going to be.
