Lightbulb Capping of Rail Line in Manhattan to Allow for Development

Interesting and innovative engineering solution to allow for infill development over a busy rail line in Manhattan whilst minimising train service disruption. I wonder would a similar process have been used to allow for construction over Tara street for the development there.

The idea of allowing developments such as this seems totally sublime to me as it allows for greater density with excellent transport links. Would have been smart of Irish Rail to have promoted developments like this, along the DART line especially (Grand Canal Dock area stands out), during the boom years.

I think similar work took place at Dun Laoghaire, has done wonders for that particular area.
