Default Commissioning of Level Crossings - Sligo Line-Mon 18-Fri 22 Janua

What does this involve does it mean reduction in times for journeys

No change at all, but it will eliminate the risk of delay if the crossing keeper sleeps it in, plus it means in theory trains can run 24 hours a day without any extra cost but that will have to wait until the Maynooth - Dublin section is sorted, the planning application to bridge the line at Reillys Gates is in.

It may mean in the future that higher speeds will be allowed, as the stopping distances will be increased to standard at all crossings
