Default Docklands Bus Station

There was a story in today Irish Sunday Mail that CIE is about to announce plans for a major new bus station for Bus Eireann Commuter Services in the Dublin Docklands which will handle 800 buses a day. Busaras is to remain in service.

The article was confusing though. The writer made it sound as if it was to be built on the site of the Connolly car park, but then also said on land between Spencer Dock and the Point which would integrate with Luas and the Interconnector which is currently a railway yard. So is it Connolly or the Granaries freight yards?

Sounds like a good project either way. With the Port Tunnel near the freight yards would make sense to build the new bus terminal near there. Apparently office blocks and apartments will be built on top of the new bus station.

Journalists and ministers appear not to appreciate the distance form Connolly to Docklands. I understand its the Connolly car park.

Of course, Sheriff Street has a 7.5t limit at the bridge, making it a less than ideal location.

The article in yesterdays Irish Mail on Sunday said it was the former north wall shunting yard, currently used as a car park. I presume it's the car park in the middle of this map?
