There is a problem with annual bus and rail tickets issued by Dublin Bus (separate photo id card), the smartcard element in the card triggers the reader on the gates and since its seen as invalid there is a pause before the mag stripe can be read and the gate opened, its not a new issue

Obviously Irish Rail could program the system to recognise the smartcard on the Dublin Bus issued tickets but that would piss off the RPA

This issue does not effect bus+rail tickets issued by Irish Rail (photo on ticket)
Anyone know if this issue has been resolved?

Sadly not and unlikely to be solved until the RPA relent and allow Irish Rail to handle multi operator smartcards
