Default Portlaoise Service

Rumour has it that services between 11 and 3 in Portlaoise will be removed in the new timetable and that the 22.45 service from Dublin will go to portlaoise. Apparently the trains between 11 and 3 will go to Thurles instead. How can we find out if it is true?

I can confirm that no Dublin Cork service will stop at Port Laois as of December 2006, first stop is Thurles

I can also tell you that all Limerick trains should call at Port Laois and that there a Limerick train every 2 hours

If what we have been told is true there would be more trains not fewer

Passengers for Cork board Limerick train change Thurles, 10-12 minute wait board Cork train, reverse proceedure coming from Cork

I have a timetable worked out with hourly to Port Laois off peak and it seems to work within the rolling stock available

So there will still be trains from Portlaoise between 11 and 3? What about the 22:45 train?

At this stage I can assume a certain IE manager has promised to 'look into it' and that there is a strong 'possibilty' in the past we have been told this and only at the last minute been told it ain't happening

Unless you have it in writting proceed as if it is not happening

I could see IE playing clever here and running it only on Fri/Sat

Mark, Is there a way for the average punter to find out about what the timetable is going to do next year, or is the protocol to put a post on here and see if you see it?

I don't have a copy we simply add up what we can find out and work it out

Its a rather sad state of affairs that we know more than IE want to tell us
