WeatherWatch, all rail services operating to full schedule by Corporate Communications

WEATHER WATCH - UPDATE Thursday 14th January, 13.00hrs

Iarnród Éireann has advised customers that all rail routes are continuing to operate around the network during the freezing conditions.

Rail personnel are manning strategically important locations on the network to ensure that services operate.

GALWAY AND WATERFORD ROUTES RETURN TO NORMAL TOMORROW, FRIDAY 15TH JANUARY

Since Monday 11th January, as a precautionary measure to ensure service reliability, Iarnród Éireann temporarily suspended the practice of "splitting and joining" trains during the day, as extreme cold conditions outside of the depot environment can expose the control and mechanical systems of train couplers to faults.

This had resulted in the amalgamation of the 07.10hrs Waterford to Heuston & 07.40hrs Waterford to Heuston to a single departure at 07.40hrs, and the cancellation of the 11.05hrs Galway to Heuston.

These measures will conclude today, and normal services will operate from tomorrow (Friday 15th January) on these routes, with the resumption of the 07.10hrs Waterford to Heuston services, and the 11.05hrs Galway to Heuston service. All other routes continue to operate to full schedule.

Iarnród Éireann thanks customers for their cooperation with these arrangements.

We will keep this webpage updated with the latest service information throughout the day. In addition, customers can follow us on twitter.com/irishrail for the latest updates.

Customers diverting to Iarnród Éireann from bus services can get the latest bus information from Bus Éireann or Dublin Bus websites.

Limerick - Ennis line closed due to flooding by Corporate Communications

UPDATE 5th January 2010

Services between Limerick and Ennis are currently suspended due to flooding on the line.

Bus Transfers are in operation.

The line has been closed since late November, due to flooding in the Ballycar area. Drainage in the area is slow, and our current projections are that the line will reopen in late January. Significant levels of rainfall could impact on this date however.

Iarnród Éireann apologises for any inconvenience caused.
