Default network direct - changes to ballyfermot and finglas routes

Dublin Bus are now advertising the changes they will be making to their Ballyfermot and Finglas routes

Included in this, is the new 79 route which will merge the 27b and 79 routes.
The 79 will serve the existing 90 route between connolly station and heuston station.

The other major change is the extension of the 18 route from sandymount to Docklands serving the DART station.

Other changes include the merging of the 40 and 78A into the new route 40, running from finglas to liffey valley shopping centre

The information booklet is here http://www.dublinbus.ie/PageFiles/65...allyfermot.pdf

For the record, outbound towards Parkwest the 79 will stop across the road from Heuston. For the inbound leg it will circle around into Heuston.

And yes the rail/luas/bus add on is valid on this route as it is on the 145

The 18 from Docklands actually starts to look useful

For reference despite the rumors the 7 on the southside will not be operating to Heuston under Network direct, 145 or 79 only

was thinking that! for dublin 15/pace passengers they could take the train to docklands then catch a 18

Maybe im wrong but it looks like this bus will be using the east link?

The 18 is a useful bus anyway, but it is crippled by the route - it is s l o w going through the narrow orbital roads connecting the south suburbs. No way of solving that though.

I'm a bit confused, is the 18 operating from Docklands now? Dublin Bus still has the terminus listed as Sandymount.

It won't be happening for a while!

They are only consulting the public of the changes. Sure blanch and Lucan have yet to start and they were advertised in july
