Saint Patrick's Festival
06 March 2013

St. Patrick's Festival Luas is delighted to be supporting St. Patrick’s Festival as an official sponsor once again this year! Events for the 2013 festival take place over 5 days from Thursday 14th – Monday 18th March and promise to be the best yet!

Remember that 2 Kids Go FREE with every adult with a valid Luas ticket on Sat 16th, Sun 17th & Mon 19th March! There is also FREE parking in Cheeverstown Park + Ride at Exit 2 off the N7.

Kick start this year’s Festival celebrations on 14th March at the Trad Stage in Meeting House Square where Liam Ó Maonlaí presents the best of contemporary Irish Culture and Music at 7:30pm. The nearest Luas stop on the Red Line is Jervis and St. Stephen’s Green on the Green Line.

The popular Festival Céilí offers a unique and fun-filled way to spend an afternoon dancing on the streets of Dublin on Friday 15th March at St. Stephen’s Green from 4:30pm. Expert callers will lead the crowd through dances such as the Siege of Ennis, the Walls of Limerick and lots more.

The Festival Big Day Out takes place in Merrion Square on Saturday 16th March in the heart of Georgian Dublin and with Irish and international street arts, music, games and more for all the family to enjoy from 12pm-6pm. Nearest Luas stop on the Red Line is Abbey Street and St. Stephen’s Green on the Green Line.

This year’s theme for the parade, ‘Great Things Happen When We Get Together’, is inspired by The Gathering Ireland 2013. On 17th March, for the first time ever, friends and family from abroad are being invited to march in the People’s Parade. The Festival Parade kicks off at 12 noon.

In order to facilitate Festival Parade on 17th March, please note that from 07.00am the Red Line will operate from Tallaght and Saggart Stops to Smithfield Stop only. There will be no service between Smithfield Stop and Connolly / The Point Stops. A full Red Line service will resume when the parade is over – approximately 2:30pm. The Green Line will operate a full service all day.

The Festival Treasure Hunt takes place on Monday 18th March at 10am with registration at City Hall, Dame Street. This free, fun trail through a collection of Dublin city’s landmark buildings and venues will see street-theatre and outdoor performances dotted along the route.

For full details on all the events and activities taking place, see www.stpatricksfestival.ie

Took the 17.05 service from Tralee to Dublin tonight and its scheduled to arrive at 20.50. It arrived in Heuston at 20.24. I mean we know Irish Rail like to add time to the timetable but arriving 26 minutes early is pushing it. It operated non stop from Mallow and that section took 1h49m and that's with the TSR's at Monasterevin and Kildare.

In future the odd Cork service could be cut to 2h10m serving Limerick J and Mallow but it would probably need ICR's.
