Default Fare Question

RUI fare calculator has Waterford-Killarney single priced at €35.15, Irish Rail website has it priced at €58.15.

Which is correct?

Depends who you ask in IE,

Our fare is based on
Origin between Tipperary and Waterford, traveling to a Cork/Kerry station, economy 2 applies

This is what IE have confirmed to us as being the correct fare rule despite the fact the website charges different

If you try Killkenny Killarney the express fare applies as no other fare rule is defined

I see, the person looking to travel would be taking this Limerick J route, might ask in the ticket office and see what they come up with.

There's the almost secret special promotional fare from Waterford to Killarney but presumably it's only available on the 07.20 ex Waterford (to Limerick Junction):

Quote:
Killarney Special Fare - We have a special adult day return fare from Waterford to Killarney for €18.80.This is only available from Waterford to KIllarney and not in the opposite direction.

Interesting offer but no use as it will be the 16.25 service. Also note that the lower 35.00 is the fare quoted on the website also.

A little over 9½ hours travel and a little under 3½ hours in Killarney - intriguing !
