Ticket validation "feature"
Running late last Friday, legged it from work down to the station, through the turnstile, and made the platform just as the DART came into view.
Of course, at that point I realised I'd left something I needed for the weekend in the office. Back I went, out through the turnst-- oh, nope. Annual ticket not accepted. "Ticket just validated". Had to shout a couple of times at the guy in the kiosk to be let out. To be fair, he was serving someone, but I only had about 10 minutes to get back to the office and back to the station. It's obvious that they'd want to stop a ticket being used twice in succession going in, but why stop people going out? Is the system incapable of distinguishing the difference, or is it just badly set up. Ironically, there'd be nothing to stop me turning up six or seven minutes before a train and passing my ticket back through the railing to someone else to get the same train on my ticket - the system didn't have a problem with me going in again at the same station about eight minutes later. |

The poor old driver of the 114 must be sick of everyone's ticket being rejected each morning in Blackrock.
These days i've given up trying to validate my ticket on the bus as it has the same problem described by MOH |

So, basically they're imprisoning you in the station ... could be quite legally dodgy!
