Default [25/8/2008] Red Line Luas Services Fully Operational

Quote:
Aug 2008 - Luas Red Line closed from Tallaght to Blackhorse Friday 22nd after 9pm and all day Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th.

Tallaght, Hospital, Cookstown, Belgard, Kingswood, Red Cow, Kylemore and Bluebell Luas stops will have no Luas services this weekend;
- After 9pm Friday August 22nd
- Saturday August 23rd
- Sunday August 24th
Alternative bus transport between the affected stops and Blackhorse Stop will be provided; running approximately every 15 minutes. You must have a valid Luas ticket to use this bus. Full service will resume at 5.30am on Monday August 25th. This temporary closure is necessary to move Luas services to new track separated from road users at the N7/M50 Interchange as part of the M50 Upgrade Works. Thank you for your co-operation.

This work will eliminate the frustrating and slow Red Cow crossing on the Luas potentially will save up to a minute on journey times

have to say that the RPA did a great job on this. On friday evening there were guys on the trams handing out leaflets and spending time answering all questions asked. I had stuff to do on the naas rd on sat and took the luas home and again there were loads of staff directing people on and off buses making the whole thing very efficient.

One criticism (and there's always one) was that the timing screens at the stop were given over to the message about the reduced level of service rather than timing information. maybe they need to do this to get people's attention but...

The did well, there was a nice radio ad as well clearly explaining the situation. Done as promised and it is an improvement it will reduce journey times and improve the service.

Its just like the Red Line to Docklands, its the small things like putting a sticker over Busaras and Connolly on every single map on every tram to say they where temporarily closed.

Its still not 100%, website word docs and so on but it really is the standard to beat
