Don't know if any announcement was made to this effect but this train used the midland line tonight and thus bypassed drumcondra

So a long night getting home last night.

Was coming back from blackrock last night got a DART at approximate 22:40. When we got to Sydney Parade we got an announcement stating there was a backlog and we would be there for about ten minutes. At this stage I got off the train and walked up to the driver. I asked would he get into pearse by 23:10 to which he replied they would be holding the maynooth train in pearse until after this train to which he then made an announcement on the train to this effect.

After a further few minutes we moved on to sandymount and had a wait of a further few minutes before moving on again. On arrival at lansdowne, there was a large queue on the platform and everyone started to pile on the train. In our carriage it was crammed to the door. The guy standing beside me pointed out that the guy at the door was pressing a button above the doors and was preventing the doors from closing. After a few attempts of closing the doors the driver realised the doors in our carriage were inactive and had to open up the compartment above the door and turn them back on. The guy who was doing this was taken off the DART to a big cheer!

The train was off again and ran nonstop from lansdowne to pearse. On arrival at pearse, there was a large number of people on the platform. There were people asking what the story was with the maynooth train including a few agitated people, one woman complained about the lack of notice on the website. One more DART, and the maynooth train then arrived as an 8 coach and filled up. It departed pearse at 23:40

On arrival at Tara street, a number of people were getting on the train including a woman who as getting on the train, dropped her mobile phone and shoe fell off through the gap onto the tracks. A member of staff at Tara street got din onto the track and got the phone and shoe gave them back to the woman and we were off again. Train departed Tara street at 23:47

After a few minutes waiting on getting into Connolly we arrived into Connolly platform 7 with a large number of people waiting. The train filled up even more and left at 23:55. The train used the newcomen curve and the midland line and as a result skipped drumcondra. Nevver heard an announcement to this effect so don't know what happened to drumcondra passengers.

Finally got into castle knock at 00:20 and got a taxi home!

Drumcondra presumably skipped for two reasons

1. Late running meant that Drumcondra was locked up for the night
2. Save at least 4 minutes by ducking down the Newcommen curve

The whole Dublin suburban operation last night was a disgrace

Presumably, people catching a maynooth bound train at drumcondra were told to board the inbound train to Connolly

Wonder what are the chances of this train being deferred again tonight?

It's not necessarily a bad thing, but people should be told in advance on the website

Agreed, reality is appears an extra train could be a good idea perhaps to M3 Parkway instead of Maynooth.

definately but i think the better option would be to push the 21:55 back to 22:15 (already done matchmights) and push the 23:10 back to 23:30

There was talk on the platform at pearse on friday night about the last dunboyne train at 21:00ish. there was agreement with staff that this was too early! this needs to be looked at, and there should be dunboyne connections to all maynooth trains after 19:00 even if it means changing drivers.

did you see mark if they were busy saturday night to justify them being pushed back (they certainly were friday night)
