Default DART.ie gone

Not sure when this happened, but just noticed that www.dart.ie is gone.

It now redirects to the home page of www.irishrail.ie. Which doesn't work for DARTs very well - try getting a timetable listing on the reservations tab.

Brilliantly, although it seems to know who I am, so there must be a cookie somewhere, it doesn't remember what station I chose before for the 'DART realtime' system, so I have to enter it every time.

Whereas it does remember if I go via www.iarnrodeireann.ie. And that site is better laid out.

Nice one IE, make life difficult for the customer.

Try http://www.iarnrodeireann.ie/dart/

That the site you're looking for? Though the fact they have 3 different sites to begin with is a joke.

Yep, just found that.

That's where www.dart.ie used to take you.

If you look you'll also find that http://www.irishrail.com and http://www.irishrail.org among others all work.

It's standard practise for companies to buy up domains to stop them falling into the hands of other people. Actually what amazed me is the fact somebody in Irish Rail thought of doing it!

There is a story behind that, someone else owned irishrail.net and IE started to ask questions, and of course we know who owned it
