Default [18-4-2010] Rosslare Dublin Changes + Extra train for ferry passengers

Quote:
Rosslare-Dublin: schedule change & extra service Sun 18th April by Corporate Communications

Iarnród Éireann advises customers of the following schedule alterations today (Sunday 18th April) on the Rosslare Europort-Dublin rail line.

These changes are to facilitate high numbers travelling on ferry services, as a result of the restrictions on air travel.

17.40hrs Rosslare Europort to Dublin will be deferred to depart at 18.40hrs, and operate one hour later throughout.

An additional service will also from Rosslare Europort to Dublin following the above altered service, and will depart as all ferry passengers are accommodated.

Iarnród Éireann thanks customers for their cooperation with these arrangements.
No details on any extra trains to Rosslare

An empty ICR set left Dublin at 16:15 for Rosslare, out of service and empty, surely someone would like to go to Rosslare?

Was it a 6 car set?

This air travel chaos is great for the Rosslare line

3 coach only permitted south of Greystones. Rosslare could take a 6 coach no problem as could Wexford

Can it operate 6-car operating to stations with long platforms only? I presume Rosslare Europort-Wexford-Greystones-Bray-Dun Laoghaire-Pearse-Tara Street-Connolly.

What would have been perfect for the rosslare and other lines would have been if the 22ks and 29ks came in batches of two

Four coach would have been the equivilent of over 5 commuter railcars correct me if i am wrong

Is that the 22K x 6 were never officially cleared? In any case, the failure to factory fit SDO strikes again. They could have routed it via Waterford, oops can't, no LC workers and dare not make that line look useful.

for reference this notice is on the stena line sail and rail website
http://www.stenaline.ie/ferry/rail-and-sail/fishguard/

Quote:
Special Notice: Irish Rail have delayed the last train departure at 17.55hrs from Rosslare Harbour to 18.45hrs departing to facilitate customers that wish to travel to Dublin. This arrangement will apply until further Notice. When checking in at Fishguard Harbour it would be very useful to mention to the Stena Line staff that you are travelling onward to Dublin, Waterford, Kilkenny etc. by public transport. This destination information will be passed on to Bus Eireann and Irish Rail in Rosslare Harbour to help them make their normal transfer arrangements.
