Default [10-1-2007] Heuston Outbound

Fairly usefull information an improvement of course it doesn't tell you of entitlement to a refund and fails to note the 18:45 Heuston Newbridge will be delayed since it has no chance to get back in time since its the 17:18

Quote:

Well the 18.00 was an hour late, didn't even leave Heuston til 18.35, maybe a minute or two short of that so I'm going for a refund.

And the back carriage of the mk3 they use for the 18.00 has a PA that's so low you can't hear anything except the beeps before the announcement. I only knew what was going on from a friend texting me from the 17.50. Somehow the driver made a clearly audible announcement around Kildare apologising for the delay due to train failure ahead. How it worked for that one announcement I don't know.

also 19:45 to Carlow didn't depart until 20:05 (timetable board said "delayed 15 minutes") most likely due to knock-oneffect

Sometime after 7pm they updated the notice but provided no information of any use

We can confirm the 17:05 was parked in Sallins

I was on the 17:10 to Athlone and we eventually passed all the disembarked passengers from the 17:05 in Sallins. Did the 17:30 stop here and pick them up or did they go on the 17:18 to Newbridge and board the 17:30 there or are they still there?
What bugs me is that we were initially told that it was a signal fault and 20 mins later told that it was a train failure.

We assume the 17:30 stopped the 17:05 is non stop service so no advantage in stopping any other train, but the Newbridge train would have a lot of space beyond Sallins

There have been werid excuses where the website and the notice on the platform display is different

1705 Heuston/Limerick stopped at the 12mp to examine his train due to a smell of smoke. The driver reported the first wheel on the van next, to the loco, was red hot. The train was eventually moved to Sallins after the wheel cooled down. The passengers were detrained in Sallins and the train went empty to Kildare at reduced speed. The passengers were transferred to the 1730 Heuston/Limerick. The 2110 Galway/Athlone went empty due to the delays. Passengers were bussed.

Was on the 17.05 train and it was as stanley described. The 17.30 was was already standing room only by the time it arrived to Sallins but somehow managed to accomodate the 100-200 passangers stranded on the platform. Felt that apart from the inconvience, i arrived in ennis nearly two hours late around 10pm, that from a safety point of view that this overcrowding was a disgrace.

In the context of a train which has broken down they can't teleport a spare train in since there are none, overcrowding will result but you will get home we have total sympathy with the resulting poor conditions but when things go wrong you cant expect a seat

If you are more than 2 hours late you are entitled to a full 100% refund of the ticket (for a single journey) for the journey taken even if its was a annual ticket

Fill in the form http://www.platform11.org/passenger_...hp#their_fault Irish Rail won't tell you that you are entitled to this
