Default [19-11-08] Train broken down at Broombridge

Told by a work mate that a train broken down in Broombridge this morning which resulted in all services stopped.

Nothing on the site reporting it.

Seems like IR have stopped reporting these issues

How long before a broken down train at Broombridge gets broken up and carried away by the local vandals? Maybe IE have just lost a train and don't want to admit it!

Heard from my friend that when they were heading on this mornings 09.05 Connolly Sligo there were no sign of any inbound commuter services at all heading the other way and a massive number of passengers at Castleknock,Coolmine,Clonsilla that sort of rules out a train failure at Broombridge as they did not see a train!

Default Act of vandalism at Glasnevin Junction

was waiting for the 08.48 coolmine to docklands. Announcment at 08.50 that train was cancelled due to 'Operational Reasons'. Then at 08.55 announcment that the 08:58 was cancelled too. A lad from the station then said that all services to city and to maynooth were 'postoned' due to an act of vandalism at glasnevin junction. Presumably someone threw something at a train near broombridge.
Naturally nothing on the website.

Interesting story, Glasnevin Junction is hardly a easy place to get into

Scumbags up before 9am?

Thats probably more likely.
Without getting too technical and loosing the thread to the nether-regions of the members section, what effect would that have exactly? trains unable to change onto the connolly / docklands bit of track?

More likely they were on their way home to bed.

In simple terms

They couldn't move the points to set the route for the next train
or
Damage was such that the signaling couldn't confirm the points where set in the way required

Like I said its a bit early in the day for vandalism

I see. So long as its not like that tomorrow morning, all will be ok.
I don't think I could take another day on the bus.

Strangely enough the earlier trains (07:45 Clonsilla Docklands, Morning Longford commuter train inbound etc, morning train to Bray) ran as normal, maybe a few minutes delay but nothing major, strange for something to suddenly happen in that timeframe?

Yeh, thats what I found strange. I arrived at station just after the 08.38 (coolmine) train to pearse had left. Didnt seem to be any problems with that.
When the cancellation announcements were made that train would have been at or just passed glasnevin.
Strange.

Still no clarity on what happened

Sometime 7:30-8:00 am an incident occurred at or near Glasnevin. We don't know if its a vandalism, signaling or train related issue. But it shut the whole route down

The crew in irish Rail of course are saying nothing since they are guilty of messing it up somewhere

Had a goo at the tracks there at glasnevin this morning. There appeared to be two charred remains of wooden sleepers very close to one of the tracks. near where the docklands line splits off.
Now I don't normally tend to look out for these sort of things so they could have been there previously, but maybe yesterday they were placed accross the tracks or something?

Was on the 8.38 from Coolmine yesterday, and had a look when passing Glasnevin. There was a train from docklands stopped there and a few IE workers seemed to looking underneath it. I'm guessing this was the 7.45 trian from docklands that morning and it was blocking all other outbound trains?
