On the same topic, we had a pic of Roseana Davidson "opening" Kiliney station in this mornings metro.

Why, was it closed?

Wow the budget in corparate communications must be getting more generous, all those extra staff now red carpet (new from last year since they had green carpet) and B list celebrities

Curiously enough the CEO of IE uses Killiney

Yeah I saw that photo of Davidson opening the redesigned Killiney station.

The caption is "Don't miss your train roseanna" and it states that she is waving the train off. Notice though that the train she is waving off is a 8-coach commuter train, only one commuter train stops at that station each way per weekday!

Had a look at the weekend, seems they have done something similar to Thurles by opening up a large amount of the previously dead space in the station.

All very nice and that

However you really have to ask, is it any coincidence that the CEO of Irish Rail lives in Killiney?

The poor folks in Seapoint have been waiting years for the promised new station. The existing one is falling apart.

We checked and Seapoint has full planning permission since 29-May-2006

No residents objections are to be found in the file, there is however one from the Irish Georgian Society and An Taisce. Irish Georgian Society went to an Board Pleanala

Irish Rail conveniently deleted any reference to this new station from documents. Our accessibility officer Colm has been chasing this
