WMV format here: http://www.radioireland.ie/lastword/2032007-16.wmv -- IE spin at about 1:00, Derek flies the flag for the ordinary passenger at about 5:10

Interestingly enough, Derek also appears top of the Last Word's favourite interviews: http://www.todayfm.com/Article.asp?id=233558 -- one for the website maybe?

Well done anyway, good coverage.

I believe they were given that opportunity, but declined.

The lady said that the panel that review the stations are independent and not employees of Irish Rail.

I was told by an Irish Rail employee the other day that the station manager in a certain Midlands railway station was one of the judges. Interesting. (This source cannot be confirmed)

Cheers Thomas. Thanks for that. I have to say that The Last Word are good to us and its a pleasure to assist the show. Remember, its the site and forum and the contribution to it that makes us relevent. We all have a role in any coverage P11 gets.

Doesn't surprise me Oisin. The entire competition is nothing more than a back slapping exercise. As I said on TodayFM, its about as relevent to passengers as a camel would be to an eskimo. If my memory serves me correctly, Tod Andrews was behind it as a way to incentivise station staff to keep stations clean and tidy. Very outdated and without customer input. I'll wager that IE change this after today. (or at least they should.)

I think it's great to hear this group being taken seriously on radio though. There was an initial tendency in the media to dismiss anyone discussing the railways as a "bunch of trainspotters".

It's great to hear customer-focused critique of Irish rail.
