Early Bird Train out of Mullingar

Just wondering if anyone has heard if there is going to be an earlier train then the 06.53 leaving mullingar to dublin in the new timetables for the longford-dublin line.
As it's funny that the galway line has early bird trains leaving athlone for dublin but mullingar hasn't.

Reports have reached us from some very concerned people in Westmeath that Irish Rail will be reducing the number of peak hour services to/from Longford

The IE official in charge of the timetabling on the line is well known to us and has failed to make any effort to provide a modern frequent service on all routes

It doesn't make much sense really but it doesn't look positive in terms of extra trains

Point to note 'Early Bird' was the term given to a train which ran Mondays only to Dublin early morning. None exist anymore

That is mad. They want us to use public transport and then they look at reducing it services. At the moment services to and from Mullingar are still very limited. Even in the evenings, i can't understand why some of the trains on that line going to Longford has to stop at every stop from Connolly. Then there is the 18.00 service that has only 4 carraiges and is packed to the hilt. That has to be a Health and Safety Issue.
Mostly I either have to get the 6.15am bus from Mullingar or drive to Maynooth, in order to get to dublin for 8am start, could be a bleak winter.

Perhaps they want to eliminate the Mk2 set in the new timetable but not yet having any 22Ks in service??

Heard a rumour some 22Ks have been sent back to Korea. Any truth in that?

All 22k units delivered to Ireland are accounted for and are following there usual test train times

I was amazed to see 4 sets in Limerick and 1 at Limerick Junction. I take it they will be one of the first lines to get the new stock after Sligo?

I doubt it, Limerick's got a good shop and sidings to keep those bad boys while they're throwing a few thousand miles on them.... they really are skating all over the land.

would it be possible to get the early bird to pass maynooth just before the 07.22. There is a gap of 22 minutes between the 07.00 and 07.22 or would it be too early.

Hi Mark, What is the issue on an Early-Bird weekday train from Wexford to Dublin's Connolly station. On the Gorey thread it will depart at 06:00 and that will be the 06:45 so that service will be the same amount of time. But everyone if you havent noticed I'm going to say it - The current 06:45 train arrives at Connolly 08:55 now thats 2hr10mins so add another 45mins from Wexford to Gorey now you have 2hr55mins not far from 3hrs,People will take one luck at the timetable and literally stand back. I thought Iarnrod Eireann are reducing the times it doesnt appear to be happening but I'm guessing this train will be a Commuter train. Maybe there is hope for the InterCity side of it. I dont want to keep going on and on about this but if we dont our services on the Rosslare/Gorey line are going to suffer. We all know how Iarnrod Eireann likes to neglect the Rosslare/Sligo lines.
