Default KRP "works"

So, once again the KRP "works" are in full swing and this causes alot of disruption for people trying to get to/from Heuston on Saturday evenings.

But, are they actually working on the KRP during the times the line is closed or are they using the KRP as an excuse to close the line to carry out regular maintenance works at a more convenient time?

The entire line from Inchicore to Cherryville Junction beyond Kildare is being resignalled, quite a lot of work involved but not very obvious but its ongoing

Several bridges remain to be demolished as well, one east of Hazelhatch is to go soon, various other things need to be craned into place. It is the biggest engineering project undertaken on a Irish railway in over a century. Progress on the ground appears to be good, with track down on roughly 90% of the distance, 3 new stations complete and Hazelhatch progressing well, a lot of the signaling equipment is also in.

The line is not closed on many weekends, and closures are moved around so full service happens on days of concerts, gaa events etc, but there is work ongoing 7 days a week. We should start to see the connections at Hazelhatch and Cherry Orchard start to appear in coming months. The line is in use 20 out of 24 hours Monday to Friday so the work has to be done sometime

Of course there is routine maintenance ongoing as well at the same time. To be honest I was expecting significantly longer closures till beyond lunchtime Sunday as a regular feature
