Temporary Closure of Two Red Line Luas Stops

The Railway Procurement Agency has advised Luas customers that the Red Line stops at Busarás and Connolly Stop will be temporarily closed on Saturday 1st August, Sunday 2nd August and Bank Holiday Monday 3rd August and will re-open at 05.30am on Tuesday 4th August. Abbey Street Stop, which has been upgraded will be the temporary terminus for Luas Red Line services. This is to facilitate the on-going construction of the new Luas Docklands Line which is due to commence services this winter. This temporary closure, which is necessary and unavoidable, is to install the new overhead electricity wires for the Luas Docklands extension. Once installed these wires will be live, like the wires on the existing Luas network, and will remain live as works on the new line near completion. RPA has issued a safety message advising the public of the need to stay well away from live electricity cables.

It will also be necessary to close one northbound lane on Amiens Street on Friday 31st July commencing 22.00 hours until Tuesday 4th August at 05.00 hours. Access to Busaras and Store St will be maintained during this period.

The temporary closure of Connolly and Busaras stops does not affect the rest of the Luas Red Line. Operating times and frequency of trams will not change.

Luas Docklands (Line C1) is the extension of the Luas Red Line (Connolly-Tallaght) to the Point. New stops will be provided at George's Dock, Mayor Square, Spencer Dock and the Point.

RPA regrets any inconvenience to customers and will make every effort to facilitate customers during these necessary works. Detailed information will be provided at stops and here on the RPA website - www.rpa.ie

There is a notice on the IE website about closure of Busaras and Connolly stops on the Red line. They say the closure is on Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th, but tha the line will re-open on Tuesday 5th. Will someone give these guys a calender: Sunday is the 2nd, Monday the 3rd, and Tuesday is the 4th.

I know this , not because I have a calendar, but because one of these days is my birthday!

Connolly and Busáras Luas Stops will be temporarily closed until 9.15am on a few weekends over the coming weeks during August and September.

These late weekend starts are necessary to facilitate the construction of the extension of the Luas Red Line to The Point. Works are currently underway to install the Overhead Cabling System necessary to power Luas on the new part of the line.

It was planned that there would be a late weekend start this coming weekend but we can confirm that there will be No late weekend start this weekend, Saturday 8th August and Sunday 9th August.

As details become available we will update this page with details of planned late weekend starts over the coming weeks during August and September.

Thank you for your co-operation.
